Simon Thomas yn nabod ei ffilmiau

Neis i weld bod Simon Thomas ddim ag ofn defnyddio cyfeiriadau i ffilmiau cyfoesol er mwyn cyfrannu yn San Steffan. Yn y ddadl ar gosbi plant:

Does [David Hinchliffe] agree that the issue at the heart of the Bill is summed up in the film of Roald Dahl’s “Matilda”, in which Danny DeVito says to his daughter, “I’m big and you’re small. I’m right and you’re wrong”? It is not only about quality, but about defending the most vulnerable in society. It is plainly wrong that a 13-stone, 40-year-old man can hit a four-stone seven-year-old child. We just have to change the law.

Dw i’n cytuno â bob gair, er mod i ddim, fel David Hinchliffe ynteu, wedi gweld “Matilda”.

Pryd ti’n dechrau dy flog dy hun, Simon? Bydd Rhodri Nwdls yn darllen bob gair.

Things went smoothly until sign #33 on the Sepulveda Pass. I was pulled over and rummaging around in the back of my truck when I got hit with the Kleig lights of the CHP. Two officers got out: one white and one black. The white guy did the talking: “What’s going on?”

I had to think fast. “I, uh, was going to hang a sign on the back of this freeway sign here.”

Both officers stood there dumbfounded for a second and then shook their heads, smiling.

“You can’t do that!”

I grinned sheepishly (although I’ve never seen a sheep actually grin) and said something like “Aww, c’mon…please? I was just going to use the back of the sign…” and then I couldn’t help it, I started to laugh… and then, I swear to you, so did they. So there we were, the three of us, standing beside the freeway at 3:30 in the morning, laughing. Because it was funny.

Ble mae’r William Gibson Cymraeg

Rhaid caru William Gibson:

In very much the sense that Bush is not actually a Christian, likewise is he nothing remotely conservative. Believing Bush is conservative in any traditional sense is like believing that a Formula One racer with the Perrier logo on its side is full of mineral water.

Hefyd:

If I were to put together a truly essential thank-you list for the people who most made it possible for me to write my first six novels, I’d certainly owe as much to Ronald Reagan as to Bill Gates or Lou Reed. Reagan’s presidency put the grit in my dystopia. His presidency was the fresh kitty litter I spread for utterly crucial traction on the icey driveway of uncharted futurity. His smile was the nightmare in my back pocket.

Hefyd:

Though I should warn you, should you happen to bump into me in the meantime, that I don’t regard films of novels as being the ultimate form in which a novel may be lucky enough to manifest. I regard *the novel* as the ultimate form in which the novel manifests. And if I should suspect that you think otherwise, I’m liable to snap at you.

Mae William Gibson un o’r nofelydd mwya poblogaidd yn y byd, ac mae ei flog e yn darllen mor hawdd ag un o’i nofelau. A fyddai’n wych gweld blog Cymraeg gan rhai o’n hawduron gorau? Blog pwy fyddet ti’n darllen bob dydd. Fy rhestr i:

  • Mihangel Morgan
  • Robyn LLywelyn
  • Wil Roberts

Cywirdeb Gwleidyddol

Blog Peter Black AC

(As the subject of this post doesn’t read Welsh (I assume, perhaps wrongly), I thought I’d translate this post. Click here to go straight to the English.)

Blog Peter Black, AC. Am wn i, Peter Black yw’r unig Aelod Cynulliad sy’n cadw blog, ac felly, yr unig aelod y Cynulliad sy’n cadw mewn cyswllt â’i etholwyr yn y ffordd fwya effeithiol sydd ar gael i wleidydd yr unfed ganrif ar hugain.

Pwy yw arwyr (go iawn) y Cymry?

Un cofnod arall am David Jones, ac wedyn bydda i’n stopo, onest. Mae’n siwr bod pawb arall yn y byd yn gybod hyn yn barod, ond gan mod i bron byth yn darllen y newyddion, oedd hyn wedi mynd dan fy radar personol, ond yn y cyfweliad hwn mae David Jones yn sôn am fficso canlyniadau y pôl piniwn hir-hybwyd 100 Arwr Cymru (mae’r dudalen Gymraeg wedi cael ei hergipio, mae’n debyg – enghraifft arall o ba mor anobeithiol yw’r bobl tu ôl i brosiectau fel hyn?).

Sut all Jones fod mor sicr bod y pleidlais wedi bod yn annheg? Fe oedd yn gyfrifol dros wneud.

We were told that Cayo Evans would go down badly with the Welsh Assembly so we made sure he didn’t figure in the top 20. To make the poll seem less low-brow we dropped the positions of entertainers. And in the last week of voting someone at the National Museum of Wales got into trouble for lobbying for Owain Glyndwr so the Nye Bevan / Owain Glyndwr positions were keenly examined.

Chomsky a’r Dull Di-Drais

Gweithredaeth, Anarchiaeth a Phwer, cyfweliad â Noam Chomsky a sut i newid y byd.

If students were to watch or read this interview, how would you advise them to prepare for the future if they identify with the goals that you are putting on the table?

Be honest, critical, accept elementary moral principles. For example, the principle that if something is wrong for others, it’s wrong for us. Things like that. Understand the importance of the fundamental anarchist principle, namely, prior illegitimacy of power and violence, unless you can justify it, which is not easy. It’s their burden of proof, not yours. And that’s true whether it’s personal relations in a family, and whether it’s international affairs. Beyond that, try to join with others who share your interests to learn more and to act responsively to improve the many very serious problems of the world, which can be done.

Blogio dros dy Aelod Seneddol

Newydd ddechrau edefyn ar y maes am wleidyddion sy’n blogio (neu, sy ddim, yn achos Cymru). Wrth sgwennu hwnna, des i ar draws tudalen sy’n esbonio sut i ddechrau blog dros dy A.S. – hynny yw, dilyn popeth maen nhw’n wneud yn eu gwaith drostoch chi, a’i bostio ar weflog yn eu henw nhwthau, fel mae Tim Ireland yn wneud yn achos Tim Yeo. Nid yw Tim/Tim yr unig un: mae Rob D yn blogio ar gyfer ei AS, Sarah Teather, ac yn cynnig mwy o gyngor i’r rhai a hoffai gael go.

Gwefan arall sy’n newydd i fi yw They Work For You, sy’n ddefnyddiol iawn. Maent hyd yn oed yn darparu ffrwd RSS ar gyfer pob A.S., felly nawr dw i’n gallu dilyn popeth mae Simon Thomas yn ei ddweud yn San Steffan, trwy fy nhanysgrifiadau Bloglines.

Dw i’n credu byddai Simon Thomas yn wneud blogwr gwych. Beth amdano Simon? Dw i’n siwr bod y tag “aelod seneddol gwrywaidd cynta i wisgo clust-dlws” yn dechrau treulio’n denau erbyn hyn, beth am fod yr aelod cyntaf Cymraeg i gadw blog?

Hawlfraint a’r Llywodraeth

Cofnod ar flog Richard Allan (A.S. Dem-Rhydd dros Sheffield Hallam) ynglŷn â “hawlfraint y goron”:

What is the answer? Perhaps a Creative Commons license for the House of Commons which can allow re-use of material without payment but subject to conditions such as repetition in full without alteration? I am starting to think there is a good campaign here to ask Parliament to use appropriate Creative Commons licenses for all its output?

Yn y cofnod canlynol mae’n canu clod y Cynulliad am annog pobl (ni!) i ddefnyddio a leddu cofnodion y Cynulliad mor eang ag sy’n bosib.

Rhag fy nghywilydd, dw i heb edrych ar wefan y Cynulliad ers tro byd.

Wedi sefydlu categori newydd ar y blog. Rhaid i mi gadw lan.
