Hanes Siriol a Medi

Un tro roedd buwch o’r enw Siriol ac un tro diancodd Siriol a chyfarfod cath o’r enw Medi. Meddai Medi “Wyt ti eisiau gwneud ffrindiau?”

“Ydw,” meddai Siriol, “ac wyt ti eisiau chwarae’n hapus?”

Meddai Medi “Ydw, wyt ti eisiau chwarae Snap?”

“Ydw,” meddai Siriol, ac enillodd Siriol.

Dadeni’r Gerneweg – erthygl yn Observer heddiw am y diddordeb a hyder newydd ynglyn â Chernyweg, chwaeriaith y Gymraeg.

Vistors to Cornwall this summer should not ask for a pasty – they should order a hoggan instead. Swimmers should head for the treth rather than the beach. And they shouldn’t say Cornwall at all; they should call it Kernow.

Such has been the revival in the Cornish tongue in recent years that the Government has decided officially to recognise the language for the first time.

Prosiect ConVerge a’r canfas Ngurrara

Prosiect Converge:

ConVerge is a project that has been developed by The Art Gallery of South Australia and the Adelaide Festival 2002 that explores the nexus between art, science and technology and its creative expression and asks “what happens at these points of intersection?”

Mae archif y prosiect yn ddiddorol, gyda manylion am lawer o brosiectau. Er enghreifft, Canfas Ngurrara, llun anferth (8m x 10m) sy’n mapio rhan o’r Great Sandy Desert ac sy’n wedi defnyddio fel tystiolaeth mewn achos llys hawliau tir.

Mae’r byd yn codi

Mae hi’n bore braf, tawel. Fe welais bâr o screchod y coed hedfan ar hyd ymylon y coedwig a dwy wennol yn hela eu brecwast.

Bob tro mod i’n codi’n gynnar yn y bore, dw i’n dweud wrth fy hun y dylwn i wneud yn gyson. Wrth gwrs, wnai i ddim, wrth fy nabod i.

Dyweddïad yr Arnolfini

Mae gennyn ni boster o’r llun ’ma yn ein stafell wely, felly hwn yw’r celfyffydwaith cyntaf dw i’n gweld bob bore (nid mor gynnar â hyn, fel arfer). Yn ôl E.H. Gombrich:

In its own way it was as new and as revolutionary as Donatello’s or Masaccio’s work in Italy. A simple corner of the real world had suddenly been fixed on to a panel as if by magic…

For the first time in history the artist became the perfect eye-witness in the truest sense of the term.

Dyweddïad yr Arnolfini gan Jan Mark Harden’s Artchive van Eyck

Ac ar yr ail ddydd…

Mae’r awyr yn goleuo bob munud, mae’r gath newydd dod i mewn ar ôl ei noson hela yn y caeau a dyma fi edrych ymlaen at bore braf o weflogo ar eich cyfer chi, darllenydd anwyl.

Cofiwch, mae dim ond 9 awr ’da chi i’m noddi.

Portffolio Cymry-Americanaidd

A Welsh American Portfolio:

In recent years, public recognition has been given to the artistic and cultural influences which different nationalities have contributed to American culture (such as the Spanish architectural influence in the southwestern portion of the US or the French architectural influence evident in New Orleans). The Welsh influence has largely been overlooked. This project, a touring portfolio/exhibit, is an attempt to rectify this situation and bring a consciousness of contemporary Welsh art as it exists on both sides of the Atlantic.

Why I Blog in Welsh

A couple of days ago I mentioned that I’d be blogging in Welsh and English during the Blogathon. Although I have remembered to add comments in English to many of the entries, it’s still mostly happening in Welsh. I know one or two readers (or rather, potential readers) would prefer for me to abandon this silly attachment to Cymraeg, but I’m don’t think it’s going to happen.

It’s very difficult (I presume) for someone who lives in a sturdily monoglot culture to understand why I would prefer to blog in Welsh and so restrict my potential audience. I’ve only got 20 minutes before I have to start another entry, so… Since the Blogathon is in aid of CYD, perhaps I’ll be forgiven for taking this liberty – here’s the full text of Bobi Jones’ early Planet article: “Why I Write in Welsh”:
